Chertsey and Shepperton regatta

Chertsey and Shepperton regatta is a regatta for skiff and punt racing held on Dumsey Meadow annually at the end of July or beginning of August.

Since its founding over 160 years ago, the regatta has made an important contribution to rowing and punting sports.

Chertsey Regatta was an early successful venue for me and many others who progressed in rowing and sculling. I remember a strong family atmosphere and watched my future wife’s watermanship powers in skiffs and dinghies. Her father was instrumental in getting the regatta started after the Second World War”, Mike Rosewell, former rowing correspondent for the Times Newspaper.

Chertsey Regatta was one of the many skiff races where I learned the valuable skills which I have taken into the sport of rowing. A stepping stone if you like, but in reality a grand day out however you look at it”, Elise Laverick, Women’s Double Sculls, 2004 Athens Olympics bronze medal winner and 2007 World rowing championships.
